Kids Camp in Switzerland!
Ages 9-15
July 16 to Aug. 1, 2005

A mountaineering camp guided by internationally certified guides
who specialize in teaching kids about the skills and thrills of the mountains.
This trip is designed to give young people a varied tour of what Switzerland has to offer. The first part of the trip will be visiting areas of special interest while the second part of the trip will be participating in a mountaineering camp guided by internationally certified guides who specialize in teaching kids about the skills and thrills of the mountains. Jean will be guiding the camp as well as his brother Rene. Parents are welcome to join us for any part of the trip and/or we can design tours for you that weave in and out of your kid's trip. Let us know how this outline suites you. Some changes can be made and no one need join us on the entire trip. Please get back to us with your feedback and questions.

July 16-17: Travel from the US to Zurich transfer to Lucerne
July 17: Getting acquainted day, visit to Lucerne latin quarters with the Kornmarkt, the medieval market place, Picasso Museum and the famous transportation museum.
July 18: Grand tour of Lucerne area starting with a trip to the peak of Mt. Pilatus using boat, train, cable car, summer luge, gondola, and bus. Returning for the evening to Lucerne.
July 19: Lucerne to Interlaken starting our exploration with a visit to the outdoor museum of Ballenberg then exploring the city.
July 20: Journey on the famous Jungfraujoch - one of the worlds highest cog trains with a hike on the glacier to the Monchjoch Hut discovering the North face of the Eiger and the Aletsch Glacier.
July 21: Interlaken to Zermatt via the Lotschberg tunnel - Discover the charming town of Zermatt with it's car free streets and stunning natural surroundings.
July 22: Hike to the base of the Matterhorn. Enjoy a cheese fondue at the Whymper Stubli
July 23: We will ride the Gornergrat train and hike to the Monte Rosa Hut across the Mt. Rosa Glacier, night at the Mt Rosa hut.
July 24: Return to Zermatt and transfer to Leysin - Dinner at the fromagerie watching the cheese maker. Prepare for the climbing camp.

July 30:
Youth Climbing Camp is offered by the Ecole d'Alpinism Leysin, Directed by Rene Pavillard.

The camp includes days learning rock climbing techniques around Leysin. The participants will learn belaying skills, rappelling, movement skills and the essential teamwork needed to make a good climbing team. Leysin offers a great climbing experience the "via ferrata" on the Tour D'Ai. The second part of the week takes us to high up in the Alps where we will stay in a hut above a glacier. We will climb a peak, do ice climbing, crevasse rescue, learn about glaciers and enjoy the summer snow. The camp focuses on teaching the basic rock climbing and mountaineering skills while dealing with the alpine environment and learning the responsibilities involved in a fun safe setting.
July 31: Travel to Zurich by train arriving in the evening. Hotel.
Aug 1: Zurich airport to meet international connections.

Price:

$3,250.00 per person (based on a minimum of 4 participants)
The price for the trip is set at the current exchange rate, a sizable variation in the rate of exchange could change the price.

The price includes:
  • All ground transportation including:

  •     Trains, buses gondolas and resort lifts.
  • All meals:
        Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner.

  • Lodging in hostels mountain huts and chalets.

  • 9 days of cultural travel through Switzerland with guided tours of places of interest with bilingual guides with entrances to all sites.

  • Week long climbing camp lead by internationally certified Mountain Guides specializing in teaching young people the essentials of movement in the mountains.

  • Technical equipment (climbing shoes, harness, ice axe etc.).

  • Helicopter Rescue insurance.

  • 24 hours care for the participants throughout the trip

  • E- mail contact daily (Phone when kids are high in the mountains)



  • Not included in price: spending money and airfare to Switzerland
